Persecuted for her religion, Tashi fled from Pakistan to Scotland with her mother in 2004, aged 8. It was not until 10 years later she was granted leave to remain in the UK.
During that decade Tashi realised that when applying to university she was ineligible for student finance because of her asylum seeker status. Through a scholarship funded by The Robertson Trust, Tashi was able to continue her studies at St Andrew's University.
Because of the hardships she had endured due to her immigration status she consequently joined the Let us Learn campaign in 2016, where she helped launch the #YoungGiftedandBlocked campaign. The campaign led to over 25 universities providing multiple scholarships for young migrants.
Tashi is now determined to use her education to fight for a fairer immigration system.
