We've launched an Early Day Motion!

Discover how we are engaging with Members of Parliament and how you can write to your MP to support our campaign.

Young people speaking to Tim Farron MP

As part of our #OutOfTheLoop campaign, we aim to build a support network by engaging with Members of Parliament and having them champion our cause in parliamentary debates and meetings.

We currently have an Early Day Motion led by Tim Farron, Liberal Democrat MP to urge the Government to conduct a full review of the impact of current visa fees on young migrants and children, and to extend fee waivers to ILR applications on the private life route- enabling us to secure our future and fully participate in the society we call home.

What's an Early Day Motion?

An EDM is a formal motion submitted for debate in the House of Commons. They're an important tool to:

  • Build support from Members of Parliament
  • Draw attention to our cause
  • Bring the issue of rising immigration fees and the lack of a fee waiver for indefinite leave to remain back to Parliament
Eary Day Motion Text: Immigration application fees for young adults and children.

20 MPs have signed so far. Help us get to 50 signatures!

The more support we get from members of parliament from different political parties, the higher the chance we have for it to be picked up as a debate in parliament. You can download a customisable template below and reach out to us if you need any support.

Here's how you can write to your MP in 3 steps:
1. You can find MP's contact details by using the "Find my MP" tool on the UK Parliament website and entering your constituency or postcode
2. Download our pre-filled template ready for you below
3. Customise it and send it via email or post it to your nearest letterbox

Be sure to invite your friends and family to do the same! The more support we build from our community, the more support we can build in parliament.

What to do if your MP responds:

The first thing you want to do is reach out to us! Depending on your motivation, we can help you arrange a meeting with your MP to share your concerns about the impact of exorbitant home office fees and the impact of the lack of a fee waiver for indefinite leave to remain. Equally, we can engage with your MP on your behalf and keep you informed of any actions and updates they choose to take!

We're here to support you at any stage. If you require any assistance in writing to your MP or setting up a meeting, reach out to us at info@webelong.org.uk
